Sprint Specific FAQs
This page contains frequently asked questions specific to MapQuest Find Me and the Sprint network. Answers to questions applicable to either network are found by clicking on the question. To see general FAQs or Nextel FAQs select the appropriate link above.
A. You will need the following to use MapQuest Find Me:
  • A Sprint Java Phone. MapQuest Find Me is available on the Sanyo 5600, 7400, 7500, 8300, Fusic LG, A900 and A920 models
  • PCS Vision Pack
  • Optional PC with Internet Access to update address book and view location history.

A. To purchase MapQuest Find Me on your 5600, 7400, 7500, 8300, Fusic LG, A900 or A920 Sprint handset, do the following:
  • Press the MENU key
  • Select Downloads
  • Select Applications
  • Select Get New
  • Select Browse by Name
  • Select M
  • Select MapQuest(R) Find Me
Then follow the screen prompts. Alternately, you can click here to send the download URL directly to your phone via an SMS text message.

A. On the Sprint network, the monthly charge of $3.99 for MapQuest Find Me will applied to your cellular account. There are no variable costs.

A. After downloading the application (described in the preceding FAQ), you will see the message: "MapQuest Find Me has been placed in Applications". Press "Next" and select "Run". The application will then start. When the Network Access screen appears, select "Always Allow". When asked to "Accept the Terms" select "Yes". Then enter your 10 digit cell phone number. After you press "Save", the next screen will display your activation code and a 4 digit PIN necessary to activating your account on www.mapquestfindme.com. (This data will be stored in the application on your handset under "Settings" in MapQuest Find Me for your convenience.) Before the application becomes fully active, you will be asked to allow GPS Access. Choose "Allow until exit". Click here to get instructions on activating your on-line account. www.mapquestfindme.com.

A. After the phone is switched on, cursor to the "Applications" icon and select it. Then select MapQuest Find Me. Before the application becomes fully active, you will be asked to allow GPS Access. Choose "Allow until exit".

A. For incoming calls, the application will be halted while you converse. Once you hang-up, you will be requested to "Resume the Application".

For outgoing calls, you must stop the application (press the hang-up button twice), make your call and then start MapQuest Find Me again by returning to the Downloads, Application menu and selecting MapQuest Find Me.

A. This happens when:
  • the PCS Vision Plan for the phone has not been fully provisioned OR
  • your phone is currently out of Sprint coverage

A. To receive and record a GPS location, the handset requires an unhindered view of the sky and a strong Sprint signal. The frequency of GPS requests for position is controlled by selecting the 'Settings' icon on the main screen of the application on the handset. GPS frequency can be set for every 2, 5, 15 or 60 minutes.

A. Currently, MapQuest Find Me only works with Nextel and Sprint phones.
